FAQ
Q: What’s the price of admission at your in-stores? How can I get tickets?
A: Now that we have moved to a new space, we plan to continue with our in-stores. When there is a show, our in-stores are free to the public and there is general admission.
Q: Can my band come perform at your store?
A: No.
Q: But we're really good, I can assure you. We'll pack the house with our friends ...
A: No, no, no, no, no. Look, in-stores are expensive and a lot of work. We're a record store, not a rock club. We only reserve in-store performances for very special occasions. Sorry.
Q: So, my speakers are giving me problems, do you guys …
A: Stop right there. I know our name is Sound Fix, but we are not in the business of repairing speakers, turntables, stereos, etc.
Q: Is Sound Fix one word or two?
A: Two words! Please do not spell it “Soundfix.” It really drives me crazy.
Q: Do you carry CDs and LPs from unsigned bands on consignment?
A: Yes. We’re always on the lookout for good bands. If you want Sound Fix to stock your band’s music, send us a link to your MySpace page or any other web site where we can hear your music (we’re trying to cut down on the number of CDs scattered about the store), and we’ll get back to you.
Q: Do you carry vinyl?
A: Oh yeah. New and used, including many rarities.
Q: Are you interested in buying my used CDs and LPs?
A: Definitely. If your CDs are in lousy condition (read: scratched), please don’t bother. In general, our used CD section complements our new one, so no Michael Bolton and Celine Dion, please. With vinyl, good condition is a necessity. If the album jacket is badly frayed and has a ring on it, that will affect its worth greatly. Oh, and leave the Molly Hatchett and Styx LPs at home.
Q: How do I order your products online?
A: We use PayPal. We find this to be the easiest and safest way for customers to order CDs. PayPal is simple to join and it’s one of the most reliable services for Internet transactions.
Q: Are you hiring?
A: Bring by a resume and we’ll talk. You never know.
Q: Where is Beacon’s Closet?
A: Right across the street. Jeez …
Q: What’s the greatest album of all time?
A: Depending on my mood, Neil Young’s Tonight’s the Night or the Who’s Sellout.
