Andre Herman Dune: Taeglich Brot

Label: Shrimper

Over the past 10 years, Swedish folksinger Andre Herman Dune has released a slew of recordings and collaborations on various labels under the name Herman Dune. But like the “split personality” he confesses to having on “Berlin Song,” Taeglich Brot (“Daily Bread”), his first proper solo album, is a trans-Atlantic homage to Brooklyn and Berlin that wavers between lo-fi acoustical arrangements and sugary pop with the cozy familiarity of your favorite fall sweater. The first seven songs make witty Greenpoint/Williamsburg references to Meserole, the B61 and BQE, while the five remaining tracks contain humorous reflections on self-improvement and birthdays. With its honest observations and splashes of lyrical eccentricity, Taeglich Brot makes for an unexpected autumnal treat.
