<p>Despite the title, <cite>Teen Dream</cite> finds Baltimore duo <strong>Beach House</strong> crafting a more mature brand of its signature dream pop, resulting in a breezy yet affecting batch of championship-caliber pop melodies &#8212; its best yet by far, and perhaps even, as some have said, the band&#8217;s corner-turn from indie stardom into something bigger and broader. (If we were <cite>Pitchfork</cite> we&#8217;d use the washed-out cliche &#8220;game-changer,&#8221; but games are for losers.) <strong>Victoria LeGrand</strong> always has sung beautifully, but on <cite>Teen Dream</cite> her talent and experience come together in a grand sweep worthy of her name (she&#8217;s the niece of the great French composer <strong>Michel LeGrand</strong>). Her partner, <strong>Alex Scally</strong>, is no slouch; tunes like &#8220;Norway,&#8221; which nicely cops a Bloody Valentine swirl, the soaring &#8220;10 Mile Stereo&#8221; and the quite romantically perfect &#8220;Lover of Mine&#8221; will keep this&#8217;n in heavy rotation on your late-winter playlist.
