This is one of those rare albums that seem to fit every occasion. It’s the album we all threw on when we need a pickup, when we need something adventurous and different, or when we simply need to hear something really fantastic. (In other words, we played this all the time.) Dan Bejar of the New Pornographers and Swan Lake gives us his masterpiece, an album steeped in pop hooks and bold, baroque arrangements. Endlessly inventive and melodic, it’s one of the absolute must-haves of 2006.
