Few pop records these days dazzle you with their sheer beauty, but such is the case with this remarkable debut full-length from Lavender Diamond, Imagine Our Love. Becky Stark (leading lady Lavender) belts out notes so luminous and crystalline that I couldn’t believe my ears; such a vast range! She is the bright spark from which the fanciful music of Imagine Our Love radiates. In essence it’s a combo of folky chamber pop and shiny soul. The sound is expansive, yet musically simple: only four members. Becky’s cut-glass vocals soar high over an interplay of acoustic guitar, rolling piano and minimal yet rhythmic drum patterns.
