Norwegian producer Hans-Peter Lindstrøm’s latest collaboration with Prins Thomas, Reinterpretations, compiles alternative versions of several tracks off their eponymous debut album, alongside exclusive B-sides only previously released on 12-inch vinyl. The emphasis here is on turning the downtempo grooves of the original 2005 album into disco epics designed for the dancefloor, such as “Turkish Delight” and “Boney M Down.” In addition, the original track “Feel AM” is sped up to become the upbeat “Feel PM,” the best track on the album with its feelgood Balearic house bassline. Concluding the album with jazzy prog overtones is the twenty minutes long “Nummer Fire En,” where the reverberating 808 drum machine fuses with synthesized harp sounds to hypnotic effect. Reinterpretations takes Norwegian dance music to new heights by layering components of funk, disco and psychedelia into warm and expansive soundscape.
