Only French people could do something so clearly unoriginal and yet make it seem perfectly right and natural and cool. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix sounded best during the warm months, but it’s a testament to Phoenix that the album still sounds fresh as we wrap up 2009. Whether it has to do with them reuniting with producer Philippe Zdar (of Cassius) or the cycles of the moon, the end result is the same. Bring the disc in from the car, this one’ll keep you moving all winter, too. (M.L. Thrope)
