A full-on blazing blues-rock explosion with one foot in the swampy Mississipi Delta and the other in the British power-rock tradition, all from the duo (!) known as the Black Keys. Magic Potion is the band’s first release with Nonesuch after delivering one killer album after another for Fat Possum, and the switch to a major label has not come with any compromises. These Akron boys rock with as much power and passion as ever. Earlier this year they released Chulahoma, a fantastic album featuring all covers of blues legend Junior Kimbrough, and you can feel how absorbing those traditional tunes inspired them on this album. Magic Potion ranges from jams to contemplative ballads, but throughout the focus on the blues remains, as the Keys unlock all the doors to our love of rock and roll.
