The Knife: Silent Shout
Label: Mute
Dark, brooding and intense, the Knife’s Silent Shout combines the singing of Bjork with the heavy synth arrangements of a Giorgio Moroder or Depeche Mode. Brother and sister Olof Dreijer and Karin Dreijer Andersson began recording as the Knife in 1999, but their work has only recently begun to get the recognition it deserves stateside. Silent Shout is certain to go down as one of 2006’s best releases, a terrific fusion of technology and emotion that brings plenty of melody and hooks to their intriguing electronica.
