Twin Sister: In Heaven
Label: Domino
Electro-pop buzz band Twin Sister finally comes through with their full-length! What's really twinned in this band that's important, though, are the feathery vocals of Andrea Estella and guitarist Eric Cardona. The band's brand of pop is airy and sweet, with lots of open space for the two (not, in fact, twins nor even sisters -- what gives?!) to do their aerial acrobatics, such as on "Stop," which doesn't bother hiding its '80s-pop love. "Luna's Theme" is a lullaby even the moon would feel proud of, a glistening synth tableau through which Estella coos and purrs, drawing out syllables from one horizon to the next. While the synths characterize Twin Sister's music, Cardona makes himself heard on "Gene Ciampi" with a kitschy opening line and smooth wrist-flicks throughout, all while Estella soars ever higher. To heaven? No, In Heaven!
